2 vols. large in-8, brown half-chagrin with corners, spine ribbed, gilded title and tomaison, date on tail, covers preserved.
Volume 1 contains 3 chapters on Rouen and Saint-Maclou, volume 2 contains a chapter on a fantastic legend, a catalog of Holbein's editions of the Dance of the Dead and a bibliography.
Illustrated with 3 frontispieces and 51 engraved plates ch. I-XLVIII (the last of which is unencrypted and two bis).
A few freckles, but a fine, complete copy with numerous proofs of the ornate letters and a large number of vignettes on Chine. With several press clippings about the edition and the monument erected in honor of the author in his native Pont-de-l'Arche.
