BEAUTEMPS-BEAUPRÉ (Charles-François). Pilote français, quatrième partie comprenant les côtes septentrionales de France depuis l'île de Bréhat jusqu'à Barfleur levées en 1829, 1830, 1831, 1832 et 1833. French hydrographic engineer Charles-François Beautemps-Beaupré (1766-1854) was a pioneer of modern marine cartography. He led some twenty sea campaigns to establish a new survey of the western and northern coasts of France from Bayonne to Dunkirk. The 6 volumes of the Pilote français became a reference for navigation. Rubbed, tear at foot of first cover, corners worn, minor foxing, otherwise a fine copy. Ex-libris JM on upper flyleaf.
