(errata), a folding table and several woodcut figures in the text. Cherry half calf, spine ribbed and decorated, title page (19th c. binding). First edition. The House of Montesquiou (Gascony) is one of the oldest surviving families of the French nobility, originating from Montesquiou, with a proven lineage dating back to 1190, but recognized by Chérin in 1774 as having descended around 1070 from the ancient Counts of Fezensac. It has produced three marshals of France, an admiral, a cardinal, two bishops, several general officers, a minister, deputies and senators and two members of the Académie française.
