[GAUTIER (Abbé J.J.)]. History of Alençon. Alençon, Poulet-Malassis, [1805]. In-8 red half calf, spine ribbed, gilt title (post. mid-19th c.). A bibliographical curiosity: this work, perhaps published in 1805 (?), must have sold poorly, leaving many unsold. So, in 1826, after the Malassis family printing works moved to the Place Bourbon, this title was printed, with the 1805 date but the 1826 address, which is also implausible in terms of its Empire-sourced name. Note that Malassis le jeune, the publisher-librarian, was the father of the publisher of Les Fleurs du Mal (bibliographical note by the former owner and expert on the title page). Ex-libris JM.
