The first volume contains an introduction (color map of Normandy) and the part devoted to Seine-Inférieure (color-enhanced front, 35 plates including 1 detached: General view of Rouen), the second the Eure (color front, 26 plates, including 1 enhanced in red) and "Caractères, mœurs, costumes" (24 color plates of costumes). The third volume contains Calvados (color front, 26 plates, including 1 enhanced in red). The fourth volume includes Orne (front. coul., 19 pl.) and Manche (front. coul., 19 pl., the last 2 with restored marginal tears). A total of 1 map, 5 frontispieces and 149 hors-texte plates, as announced in the tables. "The text, the work of Norman writers, is particularly remarkable for the accuracy of its historical research and local descriptions; costumes and monuments are depicted with meticulous fidelity".
