(period binding). First collective edition, partly original. It is illustrated with a portrait of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre by Girodet and 27 hors-texte plates (including 1 folding map and several botanical plates) engraved by Dupont, Sixdeniers, Toschi, Roger, Danbrum, Delignon, de Longueil after Desenne, Lafitte, Moreau le Jeune, Prudhon, Vernet and Isabey. A precious copy bearing the coat of arms of Pierre de Montesquiou-Fezensac, Comte de l'Empire (1764 - 1834), French soldier and politician, Grand Chamberlain to Napoleon I and President of the Corps Législatif. Some scattered brown spots.
