Album. Costumes from the provinces of France. Paris, Lédot, [ca. 1850]. In-12 (163 x 110 mm) accordion-fold, including 18 watercolor engravings. Red half-percaline folder, boards covered with chagrined paper, gilt taffy and floral framing on the first cover (publisher's cartonnage). Very rare album of 18 handsomely lithographed, hand-colored and gummed figures, presenting female and male costumes from the provinces of France, such as the Fisherman of Calais, the Shepherd of the Landes, the Peasant of the Vosges, the Breton Woman, the Peasant of Auvergne, the Dairywoman of the Paris area, etc. Handwritten bookplate "Ms Pett, Paris. Sept 27th 1859." Trace of light wetness at the foot, some foxing to the last few plates, otherwise a good copy.
