8 folio issues (380 x 280 mm), each with 6 plates and 14 ff. n. ch. of explanations. In ff. cardboard folders with flaps and printed title, all contained in 2 Empire-style red imitation morocco portfolios, with title, imperial arms and gilt roulette on top flap, cloth side flaps with closing laces, one cover a little faded (Maison Adine).
First edition reproducing an unpublished suite of watercolors by Carle Vernet, executed in 1812 on Napoleon's orders for Army uniforms. It comprises 48 color plates printed by the André Chotel workshops in Paris, divided into 8 series, each accompanied by two explanatory leaflets. The originals are held by the Bibliothèque de la Guerre.
Edition of 1000 copies, this is one of 970 on offset paper. The two Empire-style portfolios produced by Maison Adine were sold separately by the publisher. Subscription forms are enclosed.
