Reunion of 19 beautiful and monumental lithographed and colored plates of Austrian uniforms, drawn by August von Pettenkofen (1822-1889) and Josef Anton Strassgschwandtner (1826-1881), renowned painters of the double monarchy. They come from a rare album of military costumes dedicated to Emperor Franz Joseph I, published in 9 issues at 6 florins each. The plates are preserved with 3 issue covers and are numbered 17-21 and 23-36. Paper restoration in the margins of the covers, foxing, three plates slightly browned. (Hiler, 705; Colas, no. 2337)
