Anthropomorphic terracotta figurine, known as Tanagra, Greec - Lot 176
Anthropomorphic terracotta figurine, known as Tanagra, Greece 4th-3rd century B.C.
Small molded object representing a stylized female bust. The head is adorned with a headdress or hair in relief, forming a halo around the face. The schematic yet expressive facial features are lightly incised: closed or half-closed eyes, marked nose, sketched mouth. The torso is simplified, suggesting the female form with two rounded volumes. The arms are folded over the chest. A restored fracture runs horizontally across the center of the piece.
The surface has a light beige patina, with some traces of wear.
Height: 15 cm
