Square bottle. Gallo-Roman art, last quarter of 2nd century A.D. This is a complete blue glass bottle with a square, prismatic cross-section, blown into a mold and then shaped. The bottle has a flat shoulder with a cylindrical neck and a flat lip. The lip is fitted with a wide, angled, multi-ribbed combed handle. This type of container was probably used to transport and store liquids, domestic use having preceded their funerary use, often as cinerary urns.
