GUILBERT-PIXERÉCOURT (René Charles). Vie de DALAYRAC, Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur et Membre de l'Académie Royale de Stockholm ; contenant la liste complète des Ouvrages de ce Compositeur célèbre. Paris, Barba, 1810. Large in-12 half eggplant long-grain morocco with corners, ornate spine, gilt title (Ledoux). A very fine copy on large paper. Author of some sixty opéras-comiques (including Nina ou la Folle par amour, Les Deux Petits Savoyards, Camille ou le Souterrain, Léon ou le Château de Monténéro...) and numerous songs published in contemporary collections, Nicolas Dalayrac (1753-1809) was a composer much appreciated by the public at the end of the Ancien Régime and the Empire. He also played an active role in the development of copyright law. Initiated into Freemasonry, he was a member of the Neuf Sœurs lodge.
