Ivory half vellum (modern binding). First edition of this important numismatic work. In the same year, 1553, three original editions of the work appeared, in Latin, French and Italian. The illustration consists of 824 woodcut portraits in medallions depicting historical figures from Adam to Henry II, as well as a beautiful Nativity in the second part. The figures are said to have been drawn by Corneille de Lyon and engraved by Georges Reverdy and several anonymous masters. Several leaves slightly browned.
