The illustration consists of a beautiful, varied frame on each page and 68 medallion portraits of the kings of France in allegorical headpieces. The medallion of Henry IV is left blank. A beautiful and rare work, first published in 1585 and reissued in 1596, 1597, 1599 and 1600.
