Fort in-4 royal blue morocco, ribbed spine decorated with gilded quintuple fillet, gilded title, place and date on tail, double frame of six gilded fillets regularly intersecting in a rounded pattern forming a disc decoration, frame of nine gilded fillets on back covers, gilded tr., cover and spine preserved, in edged slipcase (Chambolle-Duru). First edition of this essential monograph on Rouen earthenware, published posthumously by Abbé Colas, G. Gouellain and R. The illustration consists of a frontispiece portrait of the author and 61 precious plates, finely chromolithographed in fine, ch. I-LVIII (plate 7 is duplicated here, and there are one plate XL bis and one plate XLIV bis). One of 3 head copies on vellum (the only large paper edition with 25 on Whatman), n°2 printed by name for M. Desbois, notary in Sotteville-lès-Rouen. Complete with list of subscribers (in fine). Ex-libris J.M. A superb and very rare copy, entirely printed and engraved on vellum. A complete set of engraved plates in color for the current edition of the same book, accompanied by 22 miscellaneous engravings in color (including some duplicates or triplicates of the plates in this edition, sometimes cut out), 3 preserved delivery covers, a prospectus and a modern sales catalog with several illustrated maps of Rouen faience, all in a publisher's wallet (for the second and last part) in half black cloth, with laces.
