In-folio red morocco, richly decorated ribbed spine, title page in green morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, gilt coat of arms in the center of the covers, double gilt fillet on the edges, gilt roulette on the covers, gilt edges, multicolored silk tabs on the edges (period binding). Damage to headcase with restored leather loss and loss of gilt, restored epidermis to first board, slight scuffing to second board, slight dark staining to lower boards.
Engraving depicting [[[[[Louis La Vergne-Montenard de Tressan (1670-1733). Bishop of Vannes, then of Nantes (1717), then archbishop of archbishop of Rouen from October 17, 1723 to April 18, 1733 AND NOT Cardinal Dominique de La Rochefoucauld (1712-1800)]]]]] at the feet of the Blessed Virgin with the Infant Jesus, Rouen Cathedral in background, added as frontispiece (flyleaf).
A carefully calligraphed manuscript leaf in Latin completes the festivities in the introductory ff. + a manuscript leaf in Latin inserted between pp. 174 and 175 + 9 engravings depicting scenes from the New Testament by Drevet, Leclerc, etc. + a chalice and host cut out on gilt paper slipped between pp. 216 and 217.
