Very rare first edition of this history published at the expense of Pierre de Caux, pastor in Rouen, and various notables, all of whom had fled to Holland. Following the History (in continuous pagination) is a collection of sermons by Ph. Le Gendre. Two engraved fold-out plates depicting the interior and exterior of the Quevilly temple.
Philippe Le Gendre, pastor of the Reformed Church of Quevilly, was born in Rouen on April 14 or 15, 1636. After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, he fled to Holland and became minister in Rotterdam, where he died in 1725 at the age of 89.
With a long typed note on Protestantism in Quevilly, a handwritten bibliographical note and a press clipping.
