Large in-8 red half-chagrin, false ribbed spine, gilt title (period binding).
18 plates out of text and several in-t. figs.
"In this work, M. Cochet has reprinted, with changes and additions, his notes on the excavations carried out in the valleys of the Eaulne and Durdent rivers, in the cemeteries of Cany, Neuville-Le-Pollet, Bois des Loges, Etretat, Fécamp, Lillebonne, Mesnil, Londinières, Lucy, Parfondeval, Envermeu, Douvrend, Dieppe, etc., and in the cemeteries of the Eaulne and Durdent rivers. The volume ends with a letter from M. Thomas, a lawyer in Rouen, describing the Frankish coins found in the Merovingian cemetery at Envermeu, preceded by hist. considerations on the monetary systems used by the Franks in the 5th and 6th centuries. It would have been more accurate, it seems to us, to entitle this vol. la Seine-Inf. souterraine, since it deals only with excavations carried out in this dep., and not in the whole of Normandy." Frère.
With a review (7 pp.) and a prospectus (16 pp.) stapled without cover.
A good copy. Ex-libris J.M. (Frère I, 254.)
