BORDIER. Novelty of Novelties, or the Equality of Centuries. Ode to Louis XVI. Paris, Hérissant, sd (c. 1774). In-8 of 8 pp. bradel blue half-percaline, title p. in mar. rouge (rel. fin XIXe s.). Very rare. Bordier, who died in Rouen on August 21, 1789, was an actor at the Théâtre des Variétés amusantes at the time. Along with Jourdain, he was at the head of the popular movement, and was judged prevôtalement and hanged at the entrance to the Rouen boat bridge. On Nov. 23, 1793, the General Council of the Rouen commune passed a resolution to rehabilitate the memory of these two missionaries of the revolution. The Quai de Paris was renamed Quai Bordier, and the Quai du Havre was renamed Quai Jourdain, names that lasted for several years. Bookplate Car. de Beaurepaire. Bookplate J.M.
