In-folio of 40 beautiful lithographed plates on tinted background, green half-chagrin with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt fillets and cold scrolls, gilt title, blue cover preserved (period binding). Marginal foxing in places. Head cover damaged.
"BATISSIER (L.), antiquarian, born in Bourbon-l'Archambault (Allier), June 29, 1813, is author of Elém. d'archéol. nation.; Paris, Leleux, 1863, in-12; Hist. de l'art monum. dans l'antiq. et au moyen-Age; Paris, Furne, 1845, gr. in-8, fig. He has also contributed to l'Art en province, l'Anc. Bourbonnais, etc. M. Batissier was to write the text of l'Eure hist. et monum.ouvrage announced in 1847, as to be published in 50 liv. et form. 1 vol, in-f. of 200 p. of text, with 100 pl. lith.; this work did not appear. To make use of some of the plates produced in advance, the publisher M. Beuzelin, in Laigle, composed an album entitled: Les plus beaux monuments de l'Eure. [...]" Frère I, 75.
