CARRIER (Édouard). Series of 27 ORIGINAL DRAWINGS signed by Ed. Carrier to illustrate Mme de La Fayette's Princesse de Clèves. slsd (c. 1890). In-4 of 13 plates on strong paper mounted on tabs, Bradel half cloth purple boards, title on spine (period binding). Spine unstained with tears. Interesting illustration, previously unpublished, comprising 8 out-of-text subjects in black pencil and Indian ink, enhanced with watercolor, and 19 drawings in Indian ink for headers, cartouches and endpapers.
