[DELILLE (Jacques)]. Virgil's Georgics. Paris, Bleuet, 1770. In-8, porphyry calf, ornate smooth spine, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, gilt tr. (wear to a cap and a bit). New translation in French verse, enriched with notes and figures. Illustrated with a frontispiece engraved by De Longueil after Casanova and 4 copper-engraved plates by De Longueil after Ch. Eisen. The third and most successful edition of Jacques Delille's verse translation, published the same year as the original. The Latin text is printed alongside the French translation, and numerous notes enrich this version. This work was a constant success until the middle of the 19th century.
