Paris, les libraires associés, 1804. 6 vol. in-8, speckled calf, richly decorated smooth spines, attractive gilt frieze framing the covers, gilt roulette on the spines and inside, gilt edges (last volume in pastiche binding). New edition illustrated with a portrait after Mignard, 6 fleurons to the titles and 33 hors-texte figures by Moreau le Jeune. This is a reprint of the 1773 edition, the most highly regarded of the 18th century, which was reprinted in 1788, followed by this one. A fine copy.
