In-4, LVI-458, [1]-[12] pp. brown chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, gilt title, framed in gilt and cold-stamped fillets with gilt fleurons in spandrels, gilt edges (period binding). Spine unstained.
Map (in color), 7 steel-engraved portraits and 29 steel-engraved or wood-engraved plates on Chine appliqué and around 450 vignettes in the text. The cul-de-lampe at the end of the tables of large vignettes depicts the engraver's and bookseller's instruments. One of the finest editions of the Romantic period.
