Jean Auvray (born c. 1580, died before 1624) was a poet and surgeon from Rouen, belonging to the tradition of Norman satire in the tradition of Vauquelin, Du Lorens, Angot de l'Éperonnière and Courval-Sonnet. He is the author of both religious writings and satires. Alternating between piety, cynicism and obscenity, his poetry is nevertheless, according to some critics, the best in its satirical vein. He also wrote a tragicomedy: l'Innocence descouverte (perhaps 1609, the text of which can be found in the second and third editions of Le Banquet des Muses).
