H. 81.5 - L. 65.5 cm Attractive wood and gilded stucco frame with flowers and foliage. An early version of Guido Reni's composition, Bacco Fanciullo, of similar dimensions (87 x 70 cm) from the collection of Ferdinand de' Medici, now in the Palazzo Pitti in Florence (Cf. Edi Baccheschi, L'opera completa di Guido Reni, n°94, p. 99 - Milano 1971). Critics have pointed to the realism of the fruit, vine leaves and objects as an influence of Caravaggio's painting (Cf. Marco Chiarini, Palais Pitti, La Galerie Palatine, p. 60 - Florence 1988).
