GÉRARD (Rosemonde). Les Pipeaux. Paris, Charpentier, 1923. In-8 marbled cardboard, smooth spine, title page. Rubbed caps and corners. Good copy enriched with a nice E.A.S. from the author to her friend the actress Marie-Thérèse Piérat and 2 L.A.S. by Victor Margueritte addressed to the writer Emile Blémont (1839-1927), one of the founders of the Société des poètes français and the Maison de poésie (including a letter relating to the election of a member of the Académie Goncourt to replace Elémir Bourges, V. Margueritte suggests the candidacy of Judith Gautier, who will indeed be the first woman to join the prestigious academy). Granddaughter of Marshal Gérard, goddaughter of Leconte de Lisle, protégé of Alexandre Dumas fils, the poet Rosemonde Gérard (1871-1953) married Edmond Rostand in 1890 and gave him two sons, Maurice and Jean.
