NEMOURS (At the arms of the Duke of) - BRÉAUTÉ (L.). Catalogue of the Library of the City of Louviers. Rouen, Péron, 1843. In-8 dark blue chagrin, spine with ornamented nerves, triple fillet and gilt garlands framing the plates with in the center of the first plate the crowned figure of the Duke of Nemours and in the second plate the arms of the city of Louviers, threaded cups, inner lace, gilt tr. (binding of the Capé period). A copy of the present offered to the Duke of Nemours during his visit to the town of Louviers with his young wife in the summer of 1843. Second son of Louis-Philippe, Louis d'Orléans (1814-1896) was elected King of the Belgians in 1831, but his father had to refuse him the throne, in the face of opposition from the United Kingdom, in favour of Leopold I. He distinguished himself in particular at the siege of Antwerp in 1832 and during the Algerian campaign between 1836 and 1841. In 1840 he married Victoria Augusta of Saxe-Coburg Gotha (1822-1857).
