In-folio, red long grain morocco, richly ornamented spine with ribs, quadruple gilt fillet framing the plates with large plate cold-stamped in its center, gilt roulette on the cups, gilt inner lace, gilt tr. Original edition of this superb collection of Norman costumes in period colours behind which are animated landscapes, containing a title-frontispiece and 105 plates engraved by Georges-Jacques Gatine after drawings by Louis-Marie Lanté and Benoît Pécheux. "This beautiful suite is rare complete with text and frontispiece. It is the first edition of the complete collection". Colas, 1770. The explanation of the plates is the work of Pierre-Antoine Leboux de La Mésangère, the director of the Journal des dames et des modes. A very fine copy, one of the rarest in full period binding.
