A summary of the ecclesiastical, civil and political history of the city of Rouen, with its origins & its growths up to the present day, containing an exact description of the oldest monumens that still exist in this capital of the Province of Normandy. Rouen, Oursel, 1759. In-12 of [2] 1 ff.n.ch., XII -599 (4) pp. Green morocco, richly ornamented ribbed spine, triple gilt fillet framing the dishes with gilt coat of arms in their center, gilt fillet on the cups, gilt inner lace, gilt tr. Original edition of this interesting historical description of the city of Rouen illustrated with a beautiful allegorical frontispiece engraved in intaglio. (Brother II, 186.) Bound with the arms of Cardinal Nicolas de Saulx-Tavannes, archbishop of Rouen and primate of Normandy from 1733 to his death struck in the center of each of the 2 plates and with his number on each of the 5 boxes on the spine and in spandrels of each of the corners of the 2 plates. Beautiful copy, small old restorations.
