With the disposition to build the ships, the method of building them, the proportions to be observed, the way of reducing the wood to be built, according to the customs of Paris, and a general reduction of all kinds of lengths and sizes. Second edition illustrated with 15 off-text plates, 7 of which are folded, as well as an in-text figure at mid-page. Very little is known about Claude Caron, geographer and royal surveyor. His Treatise on Wood is a comprehensive work that deals with subjects such as the laws concerning wood, the properties and best uses of different woods, forest management methods and methods of building wooden houses, windmills and ships.
