The manner in which the subject is treated, proves the author's vast knowledge. It presents an accurate summary of all the voyages undertaken in the Arctic seas from the Phoenicians to the 18th century. Jean Reinhold Forster (1729 - 1798), an English naturalist and traveller, became famous for his participation in Captain Cook's second voyage. Nice copy, some freckles scattered in volume 2 more pronounced on about ten pages.
