North Africa - GUERIN (Victor). Archaeological journey in the Regency of Tunis, executed and published under the auspices and at the expense of Mr. H. d'Albert, Duke of Luynes. Paris, Challamel, 1862. 2 vol. large in-8, half calf in brown, spines smooth and ornate. A fine copy illustrated with a large folding map and a plate reproducing the famous bilingual inscription of Thugga. Victor Guérin was one of the first archaeologists who explored Tunisia in 1860, and above all he was the very first to take an interest in sites other than Carthage.
