BRÉGUET (House). Set of 8 autograph documents addressed to Maison Bréguet, c. 1830-1840 : - L.A.S. de M. de Guibal, Epernon, 5 May 1843, addressed to M. Trédos, Maison Breguet, quai de l'Horloge 79, Paris. 2 pp., in-f° folded. About the trial with the great watchmaker Louis Moinet (1768-1853), inventor of the chronograph, collaborator and close friend of the no less illustrious Abraham-Louis Breguet (1747-1823) and the publication of the unfinished work of Abraham-Louis Bréguet, to which the latter's son opposed. - L.A.S. de M. de Guibal, Epernon, 25 May 1843, addressed to Mr. Trédos, Maison Breguet, quai de l'Horloge 79, Paris. 2 pp., in-f° folded. Prepares for the visit of Mr and Mrs Trédos to his hermitage and their commission pass for feathers, cheese and black tea. Details on the trial of Mr. Moinet in progress. Insists that he intercedes with Bréguet fils for the publication of the book. - L.A.S. de M. de Guibal, Epernon, 24 June 1843, addressed to M. Trédos, Maison Breguet, Quai de l'Horloge 79, Paris. 2 pp., in-f° folded. He thanks them for their visit. He sends him the plates of Abraham-Louis Bréguet's work with all the papers relating to the work and the current trial, as well as a list of his inventions, and hopes that Louis-Antoine Bréguet will accept the publication. - L.A.S. by Mr. Antoine-Louis Bréguet, Buisson, May 2, 1843, addressed to Mr. Trédos, quai de l'Horloge. 3 pp. in-8 on a folded sheet. Did not receive the 5th volume of Dumas nor his atlas, postponed the sending of a glass tube. He does not approve the publication of his father's work because he considers it too incomplete, heavy and stilted, nor the letter that Guibal wants to publish in the newspapers against Mr. Moinet. Ends with brief accounting considerations. - Invoice from C.
