FRENCH SCHOOL Last Third of the XVIIIth century Coat of arms of the Dauphine Marie-Antoinette (1770 - 1774), wife of the Duke of Berry, future Louis XVI, and queen of France (1755 - 1793) Three cherubs support the two coats of arms on a shell background, rocaille surround and garlands of flowers. Gilded bottom. On the left the Lilies, arms of France, separated by the dolphins, indicates its quality of Dauphine. On the right the Habsburg arms: Hungary, Lorraine and Bohemia; below left the former Burgundy. Oil on panel. Affixed and screwed in the upper part on a frame reinforced by a cruciform crosspiece (Restorations). H. 80,4 - L. 69,8 cm Provenance : Former collection Raymond Richebé (1862 - 1930) Archivist paleographer, historian and heraldist, Raymond Richebé is the author of l'Art héraldique à l'Exposition Universelle de 1889 and of Armoiries et décorations -1896. (Cf. https://data.bnf.fr/fr/104 13271/raymond -riche/). Remained in the family until today. This decorative panel, perfectly flat, supporting the coat of arms of the Dauphine, could come from the lower part of a sedan chair, comparable to the one of the Duchess de la Force in the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen (Inv. MBA. 2016.11.1), or to the one of the Marquise de Tourzel preserved in the Caulaincourt family chapel (Cf. The Forum of Marie - Antoinette. Her life, her century. Forumactif.org).
